Sega uncovers new Like a Dragon game, ‘Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’
A swashbuckling new Yakuza adventure
It looks like we will be heading to the sunshine state in the next Like a Dragon game. According to the original reveal at the RGG Summit 2023, the game is officially titled Like a Dragon 8 and will be set in the 1850s and take place in Kyo. While this is happening, the other half of the story will take place in the modern-day Yokohama.
The new trailer shows the protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, along with some familiar faces from past Like a Dragon games, dressed as pirates while fighting enemies on a ship. The game is set to release in 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
What to expect from ‘Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii’
While Sega remains tight-lipped on many details about the game, here are a few things we can expect from Like a Dragon 8 based on the trailer:
- A new setting. The game is set in the 1860s in Kyo, Japan, and in modern-day Yokohama.
- A new protagonist. The game’s protagonist is Ichiban Kasuga, who was also the protagonist of Like a Dragon: Ishin!.
- A new combat system. The game will feature a new combat system that combines traditional turn-based RPG elements with real-time action.
- A new story. The game will tell a new story that is set after the events of Like a Dragon: Ishin!.
Fans of the Like a Dragon series are eagerly awaiting more details about the game. Like a Dragon 8 is sure to be another exciting entry in the series and is expected to build upon the success of previous installments.
