Komatsu takes over as Haas F1 Team Principal
Steiner departs after four seasons
Japanese-American engineer appointed as replacement
MoneyGram Haas F1 Team has announced the appointment of Ayao Komatsu as its new Team Principal, effective immediately. Komatsu, a Japanese-American engineer, takes over from Guenther Steiner, who has left the team after four seasons.
Komatsu has a wealth of experience in motorsport, having worked for a number of teams in Formula 1, IndyCar, and Super GT. He most recently served as the Technical Director of Honda Performance Development (HPD), where he was responsible for the development and operation of Honda's IndyCar and Super GT programs.
Haas F1 Team is currently ninth in the Constructors' Championship with 37 points. The team has struggled for form in recent seasons, but Komatsu is confident that he can turn things around.
"I am very excited to join MoneyGram Haas F1 Team as Team Principal," said Komatsu. "I have been following the team's progress closely over the past few years, and I believe that we have the potential to be successful. I am looking forward to working with the team to achieve our goals."
