New London Animal Control: Licensing and Regulations
About New London Animal Control
New London Animal Control is a division of the New London Police Department Investigative Services Division. Its primary responsibilities include:
- Enforcing animal control ordinances
- Investigating animal-related complaints
- Responding to animal emergencies
- Educating the public about responsible pet ownership
Licensing Your Dog
June is designated as the annual licensing period for dogs in New London. Licenses can be obtained at the Animal Control Office located at 150 Vauxhall Street.
Licensing your dog is not only required by law but it also provides several benefits, including:
- Identification in case your dog is lost or stolen
- Proof of vaccination against rabies
- Access to local animal control services
Leash Ordinance
The City of New London has a leash ordinance (16-45) that requires all dogs to be on a leash when in public areas. This ordinance helps ensure the safety of both people and animals by preventing dogs from running loose and causing harm.
