Maple Leafs Drop 5-1 Decision to Bruins
DeBrusk Nets Two, Leading Boston to Victory

Toronto, ON - The Toronto Maple Leafs fell 5-1 to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night at Scotiabank Arena. Jake DeBrusk led the Bruins with two goals and an assist, while Sam Bennett and Sam Reinhart also scored for Boston. Auston Matthews scored the lone goal for the Maple Leafs, who have now lost three straight games.
The Bruins opened the scoring with a power-play goal from DeBrusk at 9:09 of the first period. Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand assisted on the goal. DeBrusk scored again just over two minutes later, this time short-handed, to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead.
The Maple Leafs got one back late in the second period when Matthews scored his 49th goal of the season. However, the Bruins regained their two-goal lead just over a minute later when Bennett scored a power-play goal.
Reinhart extended the Bruins' lead to 4-1 with a goal at 12:47 of the third period. David Pastrnak added an empty-net goal with just over a minute remaining to seal the victory for the Bruins.
The Maple Leafs will look to rebound when they host the Bruins again on Friday, Apr. 21, at 12:00 AM UTC. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN.
